Bio:
George Aggiaq learned to carve at an early age and continued throughout his life until restricted by illness in the 1980s. He had travelled south to Montreal, Hamilton and Toronto, each time in connection with this illness. Aggiaq taught youth in the community how to carve hunting tools at the Co-op school. He began drawing when he was no longer able to carve.
Aggiaq and his wife had nine children. His son, Bart Hanna is also a sculptor in Igloolik.
